PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The advanced launch manager has two primary functions:

  • Cross-team support on chronically poorly performing suppliers, assigned to bring suppliers back to acceptable performance levels through daily management, site visits and recovery plan execution. This may also include supporting re-sourcing or dual sourcing efforts as a part of the recovery plan.
  • Management of the purchasing/sourcing function on new product launches/select revisions and be the voice of supply chain management within the NPD team. The Advanced Launch Manager will have financial ownership for all purchased components in the Advanced Launch Phase, working closely with the Procurement Specialists and Buyers to ensure parts are sourced on time while meeting the program budget, initiating the PPAP process in conjunction with the Quality department and working to ensure that deliverables are being executed in accordance with the overall program timeline.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Manage select chronically poorly performing suppliers through to full recovery. Calculates delays, determines recovery actions, required resources and related costs. Develops corrective actions and / or recovery plans for suppliers when needed to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Prepare trip / visit reports to clearly communicate supplier progress.
  • Establish, implement and manage the system to evaluate, monitor and report supplier scorecard performance.
  • Implementation of innovative solutions to continually improve supply management systems.
  • Coordinate and assist supply management initiatives and providing cross functional support on projects that involve supply management.
  • Actively seek improvements in supply chain activities and performance, primarily through coordination and collaboration with the Sourcing, Logistics and Materials teams.
  • Proactively communicates issues and actions to internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for managing program kickoff reviews with the rest of the NPD team to outline key program deliverables.
  • Report status of current sourcing plans, carryover parts/capacity, and raw material economic exposure.
  • Work to identify and execute improvement opportunities when budget overages exist in purchased components.
  • Manage reports, cost walks, and one pager summaries of supplier readiness to support product launches and revisions.
  • Participate in cross functional teams, including Engineering, NPD, Supplier Quality, and Manufacturing.
  • Work with the Procurement Specialists to source new components.
  • Responsible for holding launch readiness reviews with the purchasing and sourcing teams, which would include identifying issues, assigning tasks, and driving accountability.
  • Responsible for managing supplier tooling.
  • Manage a smooth transition from Advanced Launch phase to production phase.
  • Responsible for driving early supplier onboarding for new programs.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the procurement specialists all sourcing activities as it pertains to engineering driven changes:
    • Send updated drawings to the supplier having them confirm their quotation.
    • Organize any necessary follow up reviews with the supplier and engineering.
    • If engineering changes drives up cost, validate that the supplier’s cost is justified and work with the supplier to mitigate that cost.
    • If an engineering change is intended to reduce cost, make certain MacDon receives the subsequent piece price or tooling cost reduction.
  • Track all cost changes.
  • Ensure the PO documentation / authorization issued by the team is to the correct design revision level.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering.
  • Five years of procurement experience in manufacturing industry.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional designation an asset.

PURPOSE and SCOPE:

 

As a Harvest Support Representative for MacDon Industries, you will be provided an opportunity where you can travel the United States while expanding on your hands-on experience, during the custom wheat harvest to provide technical support to Custom Harvesters. This role will develop your customer service and communication skills as you work in a professional environment alongside others within the company to working with dealers or representatives externally.

This position is a 4-month term starting May 13 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acknowledge customer concerns and use diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair abilities to help resolve issues. • Work with the Product Support department to address and mitigate technical issues occurring in the field.
  • Compile information and prepare reports of daily field activity to help the Product Support department with the quality of machine performance.

Purpose and Scope

Participate as part of a team in the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes in machine, fabrication, weld, assembly, paint, material handling, and automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the manufacturing process in machine/fabrication, weld, assembly, or automation.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement events and utilize lean methodologies to identify and reduce waste.
  • Conduct statistical Process Control and other statistical methods applicable to manufacturing.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The position is entry level and will be responsible for working with customs and transportation providers; tracking shipments; rate benchmarking, freight cost variance and ensuring company freight policies and procedures are being followed.  Position will also include involvement in business initiatives, and process improvements.

PURPOSE and SCOPE:

Reporting to the Warranty Services Manager, the Expeditor is responsible for developing and implementing a new cross-functional shipping shortage and damage process for both Wholegoods and Parts. The Expeditor will play a key role in ensuring all Shipping Shortage and Damage claims are resolved in a timely manner, and that all claims are logged and communicated with Operations leadership for root cause investigation and improvement to prevent future occurrence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and implementation of new ‘shipping shortage and damage’ process(es) for both Wholegoods and Parts across all global teams (factory to field)
  • Work within JDE and other internal systems to process claims and transact part transfers and no charge shipments
  • Act as a hands-on expeditor and parts runner within Winnipeg as needed to ensure timely shipment of parts to dealerships
  • Pro-actively communicate claim status with dealers and territory representatives (Marketing, Parts, and Product Support)

PURPOSE and SCOPE:

Participate as part of a team in the development and continuous improvement of innovative, class leading agricultural product designs for the Ag/Heavy Duty Off-Road machinery market. Team compositions vary and change from time to time, but will involve multiple engineers and technologists, team leaders, prototype shop and test personnel, supply/marketing/product support/publications/manufacturing and other specialists. Position will be based in Winnipeg, MB.

 

As a central Production Engineering resource, the specialist will work to maintain electrical system designs across product families. His/her activities will range, depending on the concern, from consulting on the components, subsystem, or system, to reviewing the entire system. Close communication and coordination will be required between the specialist and the Design Engineering Electrical Group and Product Engineering Managers (PEMs).

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participation as a team member in all team project activities as identified, including but not limited to:

  • Perform control system audits, troubleshooting and performance/maintenance updates on product designs.

  • Work with Company Executives and Departmental Managers to plan, facilitate and manage larger scope cross-functional improvement projects.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to key problem solvers and improvement project leaders across all company departments during the planning and execution of improvement events.
  • Analyze company's transactional processes and identify the cause of problems using problem-solving methodologies. Develop solutions to problems.
  • Significant contributor to the Lean Methodology, CI Methodology, Problem Solving, Kaizen Tool Kit and related improvement tools applied by MacDon.
  • Prepare reports, training and other developmental materials with an emphasis on training and development of understanding within the organization.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience

  • Proven project management experience supported by formalized training.
  • Superb facilitation skills.
  • Minimum green belt level, black belt desired
  • Post-secondary education in commerce or engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of continual improvement experience with proven results.
  • Experience facilitating Executives and senior leaders on corporate-level lean initiatives and strategy.
  • Demonstrated history of achieving lean transformation through value stream mapping, process mapping, 5-S, Kaizen, continual improvement programs, and visual factory elements.

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills, equally comfortable working on the factory and in the boardroom.
  • Proven coaching and mentoring approach to improvement.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint) experience preferred.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

A MacDon Industries Journeyperson Industrial Electrician diagnoses and repairs failed electrical components on factory equipment, including sophisticated production machines, mechanical or electrical equipment, and hydraulic or pneumatic equipment. They also construct, fabricate, and install electrical equipment and wiring for assigned projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build electrical/network power circuits and PLC Programming Ladder Logic.
  • Repairs factory production and building equipment by diagnosing failed electrical components by observation or dismantling and then repairing or replacing the components
  • Plan work and perform jobs with minimum supervision.
  • Review written documents such as work orders and equipment-specific manufacturer’s publications to perform repairs.
  • Plan and prioritize workflow according to business needs and management instructions.
  • Use computerized software, prints, manufacturer’s instructions sheets and sketches to assist in repair work.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to equipment as per automated report system.
  • Order necessary parts and materials and work with suppliers and participate in supplier meetings.
  • May operate a forklift and material handling equipment on an as-needed basis depending on the departmental needs.
  • Train an apprentice as part of a formal program or work with junior staff as part of informal training and mentoring in job performance.
  • Complete maintenance shift report at the completion of each shift using computerized software.
  • Make electrical repairs to all types of mobile, building, production, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Must be able to weld, solder, and use cutting torches.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Extreme temperatures (heat/cold).
    • High noise levels.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a certified Journeyperson Industrial Electrical License or Equivalent issued by the Province of Manitoba or bear the Red Seal Certificate from another jurisdiction.
  • Layout and install machines according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Operate forklift and material handling equipment as required.
  • Successful completion of all MacDon pre-screening assessments.
  • Order necessary parts and materials and liaison with suppliers for these items.

PURPOSE &SCOPE

The Test Technician role is a vital part of an international team of innovators that collaborate to solve critical problems related to the agricultural industry through the development of machinery. These individuals are provided a unique experience in which their problem-solving abilities are tested while they develop their hands-on experience working with prototype machinery. The Test Technician will use their unique perspectives to be an integral part of the research and development of agricultural prototypes through field and lab tests over an 8 - month term.

Term starts date options: September 2023.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with a variety levels of leadership in the Test Department to manage the day to day for field testing activities of prototype machines.
  • Liaise with leadership in performing and completing the verification and validation requirements of their prototype machines.
  • Use project management software to efficiently compile information and prepare reports which are used in the decisions of the engineering design process.
  • Work with the members of the Engineering Shop and Test Department as needed in preparing machines and equipment/tools for testing.
  • Coordinate with Design Engineers on the performance of various systems and processes.
  • Observe test machines in the field and lab, gather electronic data using data acquisition, make valued judgments and discuss observations with customers and team members.
  • Design and fabricate testing jigs and apparatuses to collect and replicate field testing conditions.
  • Analyze and present data through the completion of detailed engineer test reports in conjunction with the Test Leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in (or graduated from) University Engineering or College Engineering Technology program.
