My name is Quinn with MacDon. I'm the Product Support Specialist for corn headers. And today we're going to go over checking and adjusting your snapping plate gap. 

Snapping plate gap should be checked on a yearly basis to ensure consistent feeding across all row units on the header, and for optimal feeding performance. you will need a MacDon. Insert part number here. That part number is 1.369.047 for the snapping plate tool, a pry bar, a hammer, a torque wrench, and a socket wrench with an 8 mm hex key.  

Ensure that your snapping plates are fully closed and then set the tool down between the snapping plates. Essentially, it's a fancy feeler gauge. If you do not have the snapping plate tool, you can use an 18 mm spacer at the front and a 23 mm spacer at the rear. If the gauge will not fit between the snapping plates, the minimum gap must be adjusted on your fixed snapping plate. Your fixed snapping plate from the operator's position in the combine will be on the right hand side of the road unit. will need to be adjusted if the tool fits in with excessive slop in the system. As we can see here, we have a massive gap at both the front and the back side of the row unit. To adjust, you will need to loosen off one, two, three, four 8 mm hex head bolts. 

Placing the tool in the row unit will give us our gauge. Taking a pry bar and tap until the plate is tight on the gauge. And then we can go through and tighten up our hardware to lock in the adjustment. 

Now you need to make this adjustment and check across the entire width of the header.
