Draper Header Parts

Our sickle section undergoes a unique heat treatment process known as Austempering, which produces a tougher and more impact resistant structure for improved harvesting performance!

Competitive parts may only receive heat treatment at the cutting edge, leaving the rest of the section vulnerable to breakage. The entire sickle section is through-hardened for high ductility and high hardness. Our Austempered Sickle Sections can be used in any harvest situation, designed and engineered to perform better than standard sickle sections.

Fine Section Serrations:

• 14 serrations per inch
• Provides optimal cutting characteristics in green forage, high moisture and hay crops

Coarse Section Serrations:

• 9 serrations per inch
• Provides optimal balance of durability and cutting edge technology in thick stem crops
• Recommended use for on the ground applications, coarse sickle sections hold their cutting edge longer in these high debris conditions

Ultra-Coarse Section Serrations:

• 4 serrations per inch
• Provides peak cutting performance and durability in thick stemmed crops
• Recommended use for thicker stemmed crops and adverse conditions

Fully thru-hardened for toughness, MacDon Performance Parts Guards are then induction hardened in key high wear areas so they will keep their cutting edge longer.

Pointed Guards
The Pointed Guard is designed to be used when your MacDon header is low or touching the ground while cutting. This guard protects your knife sections with a reinforced rib to provide stronger impact resistance against rocks and debris.

Stub Guards
The Stub Guard is designed to reveal more of the sickles cutting edge, increasing cutting abilities in tough crops such as grasses and canola. Stub guards should only be used in off-ground applications where fewer rocks and debris are encountered by the cutting components. These guards are incomplete without a top half.

Pointed Guards
The Pointed Guard is a multi-purpose knife guard designed to glide along the surface at high cutting speeds for a clean, even cut every time.

PlugFree™ Guards
The PlugFree™ Guard is designed to get the knife as close to the ground as possible while still protecting the blade from damaging debris in the field. It resists plugging even in the nastiest conditions providing the closest, cleanest possible shave of the ground.

All MacDon skid shoes are made up of more durable, longer lasting material that is field tested in the toughest real-world conditions.

• MacDon exclusive wrap around edges prevent debris from entering in-between your steel backing plate and skid shoe, extending life
• Allows turning with the header on the ground without damaging skid shoes

Take FlexDraper® Performance Over the Top! The ContourBuddy™ Performance Option is a simple mechanical system allowing the operator to run their FlexDraper unlocked in Flex, and utilize Auto Header Height mode while cutting crops off the ground.

To accomplish this, the design uses strategically placed wheels under the FlexDraper for instant response of the Flex/Float system, mirroring the contours of the field while cutting up to 10 inches (250mm) from the ground surface. The ContourBuddy™ provides operators with a number of performance benefits including:

• Use of flex mode and auto header height while cutting off the ground - adjustable to leave between 4’’ (100mm) and 10’’ (250mm) of stubble*

Draper Header Service Kits from MacDon are a convenient “First Aid Kit” for your header. These kits contain a selection of high wear parts such as guards, sections, and hardware, and are ideal to have on hand at all times.

Available for various FD/D Series Draper Headers.

Guard Kits from MacDon include all guards required to do a complete cutterbar replacement. Kits are shipped on a small pallet for ease of storage and handling.

Available in both single and double knife configurations for various FD/D Series Draper Headers.

Knife Assembly Kits from MacDon provide all necessary knife segments and splice kits required to replace the complete knife on a header. Come packaged in one box for ease of transportation from dealership to field.
