Parts Distribution Center Team Lead - Westward Parts (Red Deer, AB)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Parts Distribution Center Lead provides oversight and direct leadership for the shipping, receiving, warehouse systems and/or logistics functional areas within the Parts Distribution Center (PDC). The Parts Distribution Center Lead will be responsible for one or more functional areas and will ensure work is being completed in a timely manner and according to established processes for that area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure a safe work environment, identify potential hazards, and ensure all company HSE policies are adhered to.
• Provide direct leadership and guidance to the staff in their functional area(s) to ensure activities are being completed on schedule, are meeting quality standards, and are following the defined processes.
• Lead daily functional area stand-up meetings and assign tasks to PDC personnel.
• Monitor orders in queue and release to PDC in priority sequence.
• Motivate and encourage teamwork to accomplish scheduled tasks.
• Train staff on functional area tasks and answer any questions that may arise.
• Complete daily 5S audits and ensure daily clean-up of functional area by staff.
• Work with the Supervisor, Parts Distribution Center to monitor KPI's and assist in investigating and adjusting areas not achieving targets.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of trailers to ensure timely movement of parts.
• Plan and monitor the inbound and outbound freight schedule including arranging couriers for time sensitive pick-ups.
• Order and restock functional area supplies.
• Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor, Parts Distribution Center or Manager, Parts Distribution Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic/Educational Requirements: 

• Secondary education.
• Certified forklift operating license required.

Required Skills/Experience: 

• Minimum five years of progressive experience in a Parts Distribution Center environment, preferably in the Agricultural or Heavy Equipment parts sector.
• Advanced knowledge in scanning equipment, bar code readers, label printers and the use of Microsoft Office.
• Experience supervising or leading teams an asset.
• Experience in JDE or other large ERP systems an asset.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license, or equivalent vehicle license for the PDC location.
