Supervisor, Parts Distribution Center – Kansas City
Job Summary
The Supervisor, Parts Distribution Center, plays a key role in the overall success of the Parts Distribution Center by maintaining a safe work environment while consistently ensuring the efficient receiving / put away of parts and the timely and accurate shipment of customer orders.
Responsibility
Safety Leadership
- Ensure a safe, secure, and clean work environment for all employees and visitors.
- Conduct regular safety audits to help promote a safety-first culture.
- Work with the Company EHS department to ensure the Parts Distribution Center is in compliance with all Company safety requirements.
- Participate in the analysis and improvement of the Parts Distribution Center design and layout, with a focus on creating a safe working environment.
Managing Lean Operations
- Supervise the Parts Distribution Center staff across receiving, packaging, order fulfillment, and shipping to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations while following documented processes.
- Develop staffing plans and target performance levels with a goal of providing 24/7 parts availability during peak seasons to both internal and external customers.
- Collect data on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to dock-to-stock-to-shipment throughput, warehouse usage, inventory accuracy, and order accuracy in order to report these on a weekly / monthly / quarterly basis.
- Optimize inventory management processes to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Lead the 5S and Workplace Organization programs in the Parts Distribution Center
Leadership and Team Building
- Hire, train, and lead a team of warehouse staff, including team leads, pickers, packers, and logistical support staff
- Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Mentor and develop the skills and capabilities across the Parts Distribution Center team.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement operational improvements and ensure seamless parts availability.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Parts Distribution Center or the Director, Global Parts Operations.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma
Required Skills/Experience
- Minimum of five years' experience in Distribution Center supervision, preferably in the Agricultural or Heavy Equipment parts sector.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using data to drive decisions
- Proven experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
- Strong knowledge of safety requirements related to Distribution Center operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for leadership, team building, training, supervising, negotiating and interdepartmental interactions.
- Flexible and agile with the ability to pivot quickly to changing circumstances, business demands, and quickly make decisions with incomplete information at times.
- Motivated self-starter with capabilities to lead within a fast paced, dynamic, time sensitive environment.
- Ability to work and communicate with all levels of Management.
- Proficient in MS Office, specifically MS Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of distribution center design and layout an asset.
- Experience in JDE or other large ERP systems an asset.
- Lean/Continuous Improvement experience an asset (Kaizen, 5S).
