Quality Engineering – Intern (4 - month term)
Job Summary
The Quality Engineer Student will work with the Quality Engineers to disposition rejects, troubleshoot quality problems, and participate in quality improvement activities.
Responsibility
- Participate in the material review board (MRB) and assist in disposition activities
- Assist in troubleshooting quality problems affecting production
- Data collection to understand quality problems and to determine root cause
- Conduct statistical process control and other statistical methods to identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop quality procedures or work instructions as required to ensure that Inspectors activities are standardized
- Participate in continuous improvement events and utilize lean methodologies to identify and reduce waste.
Other duties as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Currently studying Engineering or Engineering Technology in Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, Process Automation, Mechanical, or equivalent.
- Experience in statistics and statistical process control
- Knowledge of quality principles such as 8D, PDCA, 5 Whys would be an asset
- Experience with the principles and methods of lean manufacturing
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
