Accounting Supervisor

PURPOSE and SCOPE

As an Accounting Supervisor you will be responsible for the accounting activities of Westward Parts Ltd. Your duties will also include leading the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable departments, performing month-end close activities, ensuring that all the required reports are completed in a timely manner, and providing financial statement variance analysis as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position

· Supervision of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff, including coordination of the month-end closing and reviewing the work performed by other Accounting Staff.

· Preparation and review of monthly financial reports using MacDon and Linamar reporting tools.

· Provide monthly and yearly comparative financial information to management for planning and to foster continuous improvements.

· Maintain and make recommendations for an adequate information system to measure financial and operational results of the plant.

· Work closely with the Group Accounting Manager in directing and controlling resources.

· Maintain and make recommendations regarding a system of internal controls and ensure compliance with Global Operating System plays.

· To ensure that all positions reporting to the Accounting Supervisor are filled with the appropriate persons.

· To ensure that statutory financial obligations including audit, tax and others are met.

· To be available for special accounting / financial assignments as requested as well as look for opportunities for process improvements.

· Review and preparation of Balance Sheet account reconciliations.

· Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process, including preparation, review, and analysis.

· Review and preparation of audit working paper files.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

· Recognized accounting designation (CPA or legacy CA, CGA or CMA) or working towards qualification.

· Thorough understanding of financial reporting and costing in a manufacturing environment.

· Minimum of three years of experience in related field.

· Previous supervisory experience is an asset.

· Experience in preparation of audit working paper files.

· Experience and knowledge in the agricultural sector would be an asset.

· Experience with JD Edwards or other ERP systems would be an asset.

· Strong analytical skills and the ability to excel in a team environment.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Strong knowledge of IFRS and Public Company reporting requirements.

· Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and trends.

· Ability to identify training needs and train workers in job duties and company policies.

· Ability to present financial information to managers and provide workers with instructions.

· Ability to work as part of a team and interact with accountants and others.
