Accounting Associate
PURPOSE and SCOPE:
As an Accounting Associate, you will be responsible for supporting accounting activities of MacDon Industries Ltd. Your duties will include performing month-end close activities, data entry, ensuring that all required reports are completed in a timely manner, and providing analysis as needed.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation and review of monthly financial reports using MacDon and Linamar reporting tools.
- Preparation, posting, and tracking of monthly journal entries.
- Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation including coordination with AP and AR on closing activities.
- Maintenance of the capital asset subledger; communication and coordination related to new additions and tracking in the plant.
- Review departmental expenses and new requisitions for proper GL coding.
- Preparation and tracking of payment approval requests.
- Reconciliation of intercompany AR and AP accounts and reporting.
- Completion of select Statistics Canada surveys.
- To be available for special accounting / financial assignments as requested.
- Preparation of Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
- Preparation of audit working paper files.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Completion of post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting or business administration.
Required Skills/Experience
- Understanding of financial reporting in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of three years of experience in related field.
- Experience and knowledge in the agricultural sector would be an asset.
- Experience with JD Edwards or other ERP systems would be an asset.

- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to excel in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret tables and graphs with financial variables to keep track of financial data.
- Ability to identify training needs and train workers in job duties and company policies.
- Ability to present financial information to managers and provide team members with instructions.
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact with accountants and others.
