Technical Support Specialist (6 month term)

PURPOSE and SCOPE

This position provides help desk support for end user computer equipment maintenance and software installation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first level support on the MacDon Help Desk.
  • Provide end user support for desktop and laptop computers.
  • Provide end user support for all application software considered in scope with their training.
  • Provide end user support for printers, photocopiers and fax machines.
  • Provide end user support for barcode guns and label printers.
  • Provide end user support for cell phones, smart phones, tablets and TV devices.
  • Provide end user support for remote users.
  • Creating documentation for end users in the use of technology.
  • Provide mentoring and training as required on the use of technology.
  • Hardware and software inventory management.
  • Installation and configuration of hardware and software, imaging of computers as required.
  • Repair of computer technology as required.
  • Ability to lift upto 50 lbs
  • This position requires working rotating shifts to support the factory.
  • This position does require flexibility to work overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree/Technical Diploma specializing in computer technology, with three years of work experience.
  • Preference will be given to people that have A+ certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a Helpdesk role for a mid to large organization
  • Experience with a ticketing software like BMC TrackIT, Remedy, or ServiceNow is required
  • Prior experience supporting Computer Technology in a LAN based corporate environment is an asset.
  • Experience supporting application environments as part of Helpdesk is desired
  • Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong customer focus and exceptional interpersonal skills in delivering support to end-users.
  • A strong aptitude in learning new software packages quickly and independently.
  • Must be a team player.
