Technical Publications Specialist (1 Year Term)

The Technical Publications Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining and publishing manuals, instructions, and catalogs that provide technical information to MacDon customers, dealers, and partners.


  • Create, maintain, and publish kit instructions, operator’s manual, set-up manual, parts catalogs, technical manuals, and unloading and assembly instructions
  • Research and write clear and detailed contextual information, reference information, and procedures for inclusion in the above documents using reference materials provided by product designers and support staff
  • Interview subject matter experts
  • Take and edit digital photographs in support of the above documents
  • Manipulate existing 3D model files (Solid Edge) and photographs to create illustrations for the above documents


  • Formal education as a technical writer and/or illustrator (e.g. graduate of Technical Communications program at Red River College)
  • Strong technical writing and/or illustration skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills and experience using:
    • MS Office Products
    • A raster bitmap software program such as Photoshop
    • A computer-aided design program (Solid Edge preferred)
    • An XML or DITA based authoring tool (Arbortext Editor preferred)
    • IsoDraw illustration software program
  • Experience creating and publishing technical documents for print or online
  • A farm background and mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical experience would be an asset
