Senior Buyer – 1 year Term

Reporting to the Procurement Manager the main responsibilities of this job is to obtain competitive price quotes while working closely with the Procurement Specialists and Buyers.


  • Obtains competitive price quotes, assists with the preparation and implementation of formal bids.
  • Expedite timely responses for quotation acknowledgments and responsiveness to RFQ commercial and technical clarifications.
  • Provide clear analysis with information at the macro and/or micro level necessary for buyers and managers to execute effectively.
  • Maintain pricing using JD Edwards database.
  • Acts as a liaison between Supply Chain and New Product Development Engineering group for assigned projects by attending scheduled meetings and providing feedback on suppliers, market trends and potential supply chain challenges.
  • Works with Procurement Specialists to identify cost reduction opportunities during the product design stage.
  • Acts as the primary escalation point to resolve supplier quality or delivery issues.
  • Coordinates communication between QA, engineering and suppliers.
  • Manage internal customer expectations regarding timely execution of RFQ release and processing of internal documents.
  • Actions Engineering Change Notices affecting assigned commodity suppliers (advise on cut in dates, supplier communication, etc.).
  • Assists Accounts Payables in resolving invoice discrepancies.
  • Work with Suppliers in developing quality and on time delivery of parts.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager


Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education and experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment with a strong sourcing track record of managing risks and cost reductions.
  • Experienced in Microsoft office products and MRP systems.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Candidate should be an innovative self-starter, detail-oriented and be able to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled team.
  • Accomplished negotiator with experience in total cost analysis and possessing a firm grasp of finance principles.
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Candidate should be able to employ critical thinking and problem solving skills while making decisions based on multiple options and determine the right course of action.
  • Blueprint reading skills are preferred.
