Business Analyst

As a member of the MacDon Information Technology (IT) Team, the Business Analyst takes a lead position in implementing new technology solutions that streamline MacDon business processes, provide visibility to business performance, and support new business growth opportunities. The Business Analyst plays a key role in all phases of the solution development lifecycle including enterprise analysis, requirements analysis, solution development, testing, change management, and support.

This position in ideal for anyone who likes solving problems, can work independently, and has an interest in established and emerging enterprise technologies.


  • Work with business stakeholders, including senior leadership, to identify new opportunities to apply technology to automate business processes and/or support new business growth opportunities.
  • Elicit, document, and validate requirements for new business systems & information technology solutions.  Work with technical resources to define appropriate technology to meet business needs.
  • Develop business cases for adoption of new technology solutions and present recommendations to business decision makers.
  • Define test cases and assist technical resources in solution validation. Coordinate pre-release testing with stakeholder user acceptance groups.
  • Work with stakeholders to define & implement change management strategies for new business solutions including communication & training plans.
  • Triage & resolve reported issues with existing IT systems through root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Stay up-to-date on new trends and developments in emerging manufacturing & enterprise technologies.
  • Perform project management duties on small to moderate sized projects.


  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field (i.e. business, information technology, etc.); and/or relevant certification(s) from a relevant recognized institution (i.e. IIBA, PMI, ISACA, etc.). Or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Proven experience in being able to solve complex business problems through application of enterprise systems and technology.
  • Exceptionally strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in performing data analysis, using various tools, to inform conclusions and support decision making.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Asset Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in implementing or supporting ERP or CRM systems.
  • Prior experience in implementing or supporting a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Prior experience in implementing or supporting emerging technologies (i.e. AI, machine learning, etc.)
  • Prior experience integrating operational technology (OT) with information technology (IT) systems.
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of or experience working with traditional or Agile project management methodologies.
