Purpose and Scope:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Technology Leader, this position works alongside a talented group of individuals who are dedicated to achieving excellence. This includes working with the Engineering and Production teams to develop and optimize production through process automation. The primary focus is welding applications, with some contribution to areas including assembly, grinding, machine tending, and material handling.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Assist in the integration, commissioning, start-up and debugging of plant floor equipment.
•    Assist Manufacturing Engineering with evaluating parts for robotic compatibility and recommend component and tool design modifications to enable robotic implementation. 
•    Coordinate, develop, and verify off-line programming and online implementation of programming.
•    Work with Manufacturing Engineering to develop and optimize welding parameters to improve product quality and process efficiency.  
•    Improve cycle time and throughput by adjusting robot path or functions.
•    Maintain revision logs for programs.
•    Investigate failures and unexpected maintenance problems related to automation programming and signals.
•    Develop and Provide training to other team members on robotic system operations and safety.
•    Uphold company quality objectives and play an active role in reaching continuous improvement objectives.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
•    University Degree/Technical Diploma in Automation and Robotics, Mechatronics, or related engineering field. 
•    At least 3 years of experience with Robot programming, commissioning, and deployment.
•    Experience with programming languages used in robotic systems.
•    Experience with various robot manufacturers (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.).
•    Experience with developing and supporting manufacturing processes (machine, fabrication, weld, assembly, paint, or material handling)

Skills and Knowledge
•    Knowledge of Robot Programming: Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc. 
•    Solid understanding of welding principles and practices.
•    Aptitude for providing directions to peers within the department. 
•    Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings.
•    Must possess excellent presentation, organization, communication and problem-solving skills.
•    Familiarity with safety codes and standards relevant to industrial manufacturing automation.
•    PLC experience is an asset
•    Occasional travel may be required.
•    Evening on call may be required.
