Financial Analyst – 18 Month Term
PURPOSE and SCOPE
As a Financial Analyst you will be responsible for the preparation and review of monthly financial reports. Your duties will also include manufacturing and financial statement variance analysis, maintaining cost accounting information, monitoring and investigating inventory cost adjustments and other duties as assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position:
- Preparation and review of monthly financial reports.
- Manufacturing variance analysis and investigation.
- Maintain cost accounting information, including standard costs.
- Monitor and investigate inventory cost and quantity adjustments.
- Analyze margins and profitability for multiple products and production runs.
- Prepare reports on cycle count accuracy and perform test counts.
- Preparation of Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
Preparation of audit working paper files.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Recognized accounting designation (CPA or legacy CA, CGA or CMA) or in final stages of qualification.
- Thorough understanding of financial reporting and costing in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in preparation of audit working paper files.
- Experience in value added manufacturing analytics to identify anomalies or errors and recommend preventative solutions.
- Experience with a time sensitive general ledger and financial closing process.
- Experience and knowledge in the agricultural sector would be an asset.
- Experience with JD Edwards or other ERP systems would be an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to excel in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Public Company reporting requirements
