Exclusive articulated power turn (APT) hitch

MacDon’s APT hitch allows you to pull the machine on either side of the tractor for back and forth harvesting.

The vertical pivot has been moved back from the tractor to significantly reduce turning radius and make it easier to open fields.

Exclusive to MacDon, the APT hitch found on the R85 Rotary Disc and A30-D pull types represents a complete rethinking of hitch design by MacDon engineers. First, they insisted that the hitch have a high capacity all hydraulic drive system to provide overload protection for all components and reduce maintenance requirements when compared to mechanical hitch designs. Next, they repositioned the drive shaft so that a straight line is maintained between the tractor’s PTO and header pump. This further reduced vibration and wear on the unit. They also rethought the hitch assembly and moved the vertical pivot back from the tractor, and allowed the front end of the tongue to extend over it. This resulted in a much tighter turning radius compared to conventional designs and the ability to pull the machine on either side of the tractor. Finally, our engineers added a horizontal pivot to fully accommodate the rolling movement of the mower during normal operation and minimize side loads on the rear of the tractor. The end of their efforts was a completely new hitch, one that improved maneuverability, reduced maintenance and made opening a field easier than ever.

Widest conditioning rolls on the market

To improve conditioning performance, the R85 Rotary Disc and A30-D pull-types have been equipped with the widest steel on steel rolls on the market (102"/2591 mm on the A30-D; 118"/3000 mm on the R85). Wider rolls result in a thinner mat of material passing through, which increases the amount of crop in contact with the rolls, improving crimping performance and ensuring thorough conditioning of the plant stem. These conditioning rolls also feature a design which more aggressively pulls crop away from the cutting discs and feeds it into the forming shield, for reduced power requirements and improved performance in both light crop conditions such as grass and heavier alfalfa type crops.

Z-shaped cutterbar

We’ve made the cutterbar super strong by giving it a Z-shaped profile and incorporating a rectangular reinforcement. As a result the cutterbar is much stronger along both the horizontal and vertical planes, allowing it to better withstand impact from field obstacles.

Power-through unplugging

The A30-D’s conditioner rolls can be easily unplugged from the comfort of the tractor seat. By simply raising the header, the conditioner rolls will separate, providing power through unplugging of crop build up.

Improved crop flow and handling

Crop feeding is enhanced by MacDon’s poly feed pan design (shown), progressive feed paddles and unique stripper bars which combine to allow for smooth feeding, even under adverse conditions.

Built for the tough going

Like all MacDon harvesting machines, the A30-D is designed for the toughest conditions. Exceptional durability of the unit is assured by the heavy-duty cast housing of the dual wobble boxes and rugged internal components of the knife drive system. The A30-D’s independent suspension system features heavy duty flotation springs (shown) which allow the header to react quickly and smoothly to ground obstructions, reducing the likelihood of damage to the cutterbar and knife components.

Wide flotation tires

The A30-D’s wide 31 x 13.5 - 15 tires provide smooth flotation over uneven ground and a light footprint – an important advantage in soft soil conditions.

Transport locks

Easy and quick to engage, the A30-D and R85 transport lock valves are activated by levers located on the hitch and on the header lift cylinders.

Full width forming shield

This easy to adjust side forming shield makes it simple to set the width of the windrow. A rear fluffer shield is also standard and is used to adjust height and density of windrow for optimum dry down.

Spare Knife Storage

A very convenient storage location is built into the front lean-bar.

Outboard Skid Shoes

The adjustable Outboard Skid Shoes are standard on the A series mower conditioner. They are built with a double steel skin fo durability in tough field conditions.

ADVANCED DRAPER TECHNOLOGY

MacDon’s draper system features larger capacity motors and heavy duty double row sealed roller bearings for increased power and reduced maintenance. MacDon’s puncture and tear resistant V-guide drapers are designed for positive tracking. On the D65 model, the double V-guide draper can be reversed if the leading edge becomes damaged or worn, effectively doubling draper life. Combined with MacDon’s draper protecting patented C-shaped cutterbar, these features make them MacDon’s most durable and reliable drapers ever.

CONSISTENTLY CLOSE SHAVE

MacDon’s unique patented C-shaped cutterbar, which permits cutting at ground level for the most consistently clean shave of your fields. This close cutting ability combined with the reel’s ability to maintain a consistent relationship with the sickle (allowing it to gently lift the crop like a comb) means improved recovery in crop that is downed, lodged or tangled.

BOOST YOUR PRODUCTIVITY INSTANTLY WITH D SERIES DRAPER HEADERS

Designed to be excellent all-purpose headers for cereals, canola, hay, forage and specialty crops, MacDon’s D Series Drapers allow you to cut at significantly higher speeds and achieve greater capacity, while still delivering exceptionally uniform and fluffy windrows. This is possible thanks to their extra-wide 76.7" (1948 mm) swath opening, increased draper depth, better angling on the back sheet and the higher crop clearance of the M Series Windrower. The super robust full-featured D65 which is designed for high volume commercial operations. Both models feature MacDon’s patented C-shaped cutterbar. Long-life double V-guide drapers are standard on the D65.

MACDON’S D65 – THE ULTIMATE IN DRAPER HARVESTING PERFORMANCE

Available in single and double knife versions, MacDon’s full-featured D65 model is designed for high acreage operations and is outfitted with heavier duty drapers, shiftable decks on certain configurations (that allow center or side delivery) and the ability to attach MacDon’s HC10 Hay Conditioner (available for double knife drives up to 30'/9.1 m). For hay and forage harvesting, MacDon’s optional double windrow attachment (available for double knife version headers only) allows you to lay up to 50' (15.2 m) of conditioned crop in a windrow, ideal for today’s larger forage harvesters. The D65 is configured with either a 5 or 6 bat PR15 pick-up reel, both of which have been specially engineered to maintain a consistently close cutterbar to reel relationship over the entire length of the header as well as provide more effective lift and sweep of material from the cutterbar. As such, you’ll experience better cutting performance, especially in tough harvesting conditions such as downed or tangled crops. For more control, the D65 comes standard with hydraulic fore-aft reel positioner and can be outfitted with performance options such as hydraulic header tilt for the ultimate harvesting package.

EXCELLENT FOR HAY AND FORAGE

With the addition of MacDon’s HC10 Hay Conditioner, D65 headers become high performance hay and forage harvesting machines. If you’re cutting for one of today’s large forage harvesters, MacDon’s optional double windrow attachment (available for double knife units) lets you lay up to 50' (15.2 m) of conditioned crop in a single windrow.

HYDRAULIC REEL FORE-AFT POSITIONER

Adjust the reel position to changing crop and field conditions on-the-go from the cab.

ROBUST REEL DRIVE

The MacDon pick-up reel is the most robust on the market. The special cam arms are manufactured in cast-iron to ensure it can withstand the toughest crop conditions.

REEL END SHIELDS REDESIGNED

The reel endshields were redesigned for less carryover of crop and to allow more clearance between the reel and header endshields.

REEL POSITIONER INDICATON

Reel position can be critical to the performance of your header in certain crops. Simple reel positioner indication is offered to allow your operators to better determine where their reel works best.

CUTTERBAR POLY

This kit is a compression molded component that has very high wear characteristics. It is used when cutting low podding crops like peas, edible beans, or other lodged crops. The smooth design characteristics make this kit ideal for muddy harvesting conditions by reducing the likelihood of mud building up on the cutterbar.

IMPROVED DRAPER DRIVE ROLLERS

Tungsten carbide ribs have been added to the steel drive rollers to reduce draper slippage while allowing longer overall draper life. This feature prevents traditional draper slippage on wide headers in heavy crops such as canola. Double draper drive kits are no longer needed when using this roller.

*This roller is retrofitable on older MacDon headers.

DRAPER SEAL

A draper seal is built into both of the side drapers and travels the entire length of the c-shaped cutterbar, preventing and crop residue from entering the underside of the drapers. This feature is especially beneficial to those who are swathing canola.

V-GUIDE DRAPER TRACKING

Critical to keep your drapers tracking straight, preventing premature wear to the drapers.

DRAPER TENSION INCREASED 33%

This simple change allows the drapers to be tensioned up to 33% more than previous FlexDraper headers, improving the drive to drapers for handling the heaviest of crop loads.

STRONGER, LESS MAINTENANCE

The replaceable inner skin on cutterbar access hoods helps to reduce possible damage to outer cover for improved resale value.

MacDon’s engineers have substantially strengthened the R85’s header frame by making sure that the top link, lower lift arms and all header parts are anchored or bolted into sturdy frame members. Operators will also appreciate the R85’s lower maintenance requirements thanks to its fewer moving parts than mechanical drive designs, and greasing intervals of 25 and 50 hours.

CUT LOWER, CUT CLEANER, CUT FASTER

To help you cut lower and at a flatter angle we’ve both lowered the profile of the cutterbar and strengthened the design of the cutterbar cradle. These improvements combined with the R85’s sturdy frame design and excellent spring flotation system allows you to run the machine faster over rough terrain and still maintain a consistently clean cut.

IMPROVED CAPACITY AND CROP HANDLING

We’ve given the 16' (4.9 m) R85 an overshot auger to more efficiently transfer crop from the discs to the wide conditioner rolls and improve cutting performance in tougher conditions.

The R85 boasts a number of new features that improve capacity and crop handling. These include an optimized disc rotation pattern to reduce the amount of debris thrown across the cutterbar, and newly added accelerators on each disc to promote better crop flow in thick and tangled crop. Together, these improvements add up to significantly increased cutting capacity, reduced crop stripping and improved windrow formation.

NEW OVERLOAD PROTECTION

R85 cutterbars feature a single removable key on the outside hubs that will shear if the disc comes in contact with an object that stops its movement. The hub can then be removed and the key replaced, allowing the operator to quickly get back to cutting.

DOUBLE WINDROW ATTACHMENT

MacDon’s optional Double Windrow Attachment allows you to place up to 48' (14.6 m) of conditioned crop with the R85 into a single windrow.

WIDEST CONDITIONING ROLLS ON THE MARKET

To improve conditioning performance, the R85 Rotary Disc has been equipped with the widest steel on steel rolls on the market (118"/3000 mm). Wider rolls increase the amount of crop contact, improving crimping performance and ensuring thorough conditioning of the plant stem. These conditioning rolls also feature a design which more aggressively pulls crop away from the cutting discs, for reduced power requirements and improved performance.

Cut lower, cut cleaner, cut faster

To help you cut lower and at a flatter angle we’ve both lowered the profile of the cutterbar and strengthened the design of the cutterbar cradle. These improvements combined with the R85’s sturdy frame design and excellent spring flotation system allows the operator to run the machine faster over rough terrain and still maintain a consistently clean cut.

First, we’ve added an overshot auger (16'/4.9 m model) for more positive feeding and less back feeding of crop at the ends of the header when cutting heavier material. We’ve also reconfigured the disc rotation pattern to reduce the amount of debris thrown across the cutterbar into diverging paths. Finally, we’ve added accelerators on each disc to promote better crop flow rearwards and help power through thick and tangled crop. Together, these improvements add up to significantly increased cutting capacity, smoother – more positive – crop flow and reduced crop stripping, especially under wet and heavy crop conditions.

New overload protection

R85 cutterbars feature replaceable key shear protection in each hub assembly. The shafts are designed to break and seal off from the cutterbar if the disc comes into contact with a solid object. It also features a single replaceable key on the outside hubs that will shear if the disc comes in contact with an object that stops its movement. The hub can then be removed and the key replaced, allowing the operator to quickly get back to cutting.

Sculptured rock guards

The R85 guards are designed to completely cover the underside of the cutterbar and cradle, these guards improve self-cleaning in sticky soil conditions.

EXCEPTIONAL CROP CLEARANCE

The M Series frame features a wide wheel stance and an unobstructed, unmatched 45.7" (1160 mm) below frame clearance when cutting bushy crops.

NEW MORE EFFICIENT HEADER DRIVE

To ensure that every ounce of power being generated is effectively delivered to the header drive motor, the M205 Windrowers feature a completely new header drive with a load-sensing circuit. The result is a simpler – more efficient – design with fewer working components that promises to be more constant, more dependable in tough cutting conditions. The header lift speed has even been increased thanks to a larger hydraulic pump. Add draper or auger headers with ease with a simple valve block.

MAKING YOU FASTER IN THE FIELD, FASTER BETWEEN FIELDS AND FASTER HOME

Switching from field to highway mode takes only three seconds with MacDon’s Dual Direction® technology. (Available on M205 and M155).

MacDon’s patented Dual Direction® technology (models M205 and M155) allows you to switch to highway travel mode in seconds and travel at highway speeds of up to 23 MPH (37 km/h). Better still, there is no need to detach the header and transport it via flatbed, saving you even more time and labor when moving from field to field. (Limitations may occur due to road width restrictions with larger headers.)

ERGONOMIC CAB

MacDon’s ergonomic cab, designed specifically for windrowing, ensures operator control and comfort during long harvest days. Its cab forward design and curved glass provide unparalleled visibility of the cutterbar, the stubble and full field conditions.

NEW ULTRA GLIDE™ SUSPENSION SYSTEM

M Series Windrowers are not just all about muscle and power; they also have a softer side, thanks to MacDon’s new Ultra Glide™ Cab suspension system. This four-corner “custom tuned” independent suspension system features suspension stabilization to prevent cab roll and “chop” for what is likely to be the smoothest ride you’ve ever experienced in a windrower.

COMPUTERIZED CUTTING CONTROL WITH HARVEST MANAGER PRO

M Series Windrowers come with a fully computerized monitoring and header control system that provide the operator with real time readout of the header’s cutting performance and critical information. Operators will also enjoy easy, intuitive fingertip control of all header functions including MacDon’s highly popular “return-to-cut” feature that allows the operator to precisely return the header to the same setting after lifting it. The M105 features the Harvest Manager which includes some of the same monitor read-out display functions.

EASY UNPLUGGING FROM THE CAB

MacDon’s Hydraulic Header Reverser (optional for M205 and M155 windrowers) allows the operator to quickly unplug the conditioner and other major header components on augers and drapers without leaving the operator’s station.

NEW ENHANCED AIR INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM

All regular engine and hydraulic maintenance points are within easy reach thanks to MacDon’s patented movable rail platform. The cooling system’s cores are easily slid or swung out for fast cleaning.

To accommodate the larger engine, the M205 and M155 feature a completely redesigned air intake and exhaust system which has resulted in a reworking of the windrower’s body and hood to allow for greater airflow into the engine. To keep up, the air filter has also been enlarged which has provided the added bonus of longer periods between service intervals.

Sliding platforms.

The sliding platform can be moved back to front to allow access to a number of service points including fuel fill, engine air filter, engine service points and access to cab doors. Additionally, the platform can be moved rearward to allow service of electrical and hydraulic components on the windrower.

D65 Draper Headers for Combine

THE ULTIMATE IN DRAPER PERFORMANCE

The MacDon D65 Draper Header is designed to deliver outstanding straight cut performance, especially when faced with tough harvesting conditions. Low podding, downed, tangled, or even lodged crops; whatever the harvesting situation the MacDon D65 Draper Header excels. Combining or swathing, the D65 is a true multi-crop harvesting solution. This “Can Do” attitude delivered with MacDon reliability and performance, is the reason why MacDon Draper Headers are a great fit for so many of today’s operations.

SMOOTH, CONSISTENT, HEADS-FIRST FEEDING. IT'S WHAT SETS OUR MACHINES APPART.

MacDon 5 Series Drapers are designed to provide smooth, consistent headsfirst feeding to the combine, even in the most challenging harvest conditions. Feeding crop heads-first is the best way to get the most performance out of your combine - burning less fuel and taking less time to process means getting the crop off quicker and more efficiently. HERE'S HOW WE DO IT...

  • Close Reel to Cutterbar Relationship - The MacDon D65 features a fixed cutter bar to reel relationship. A small critical gap between the reel fingers and the cutter bar is maintained at all times, even in rough field conditions, ensuring smooth feeding of the crop over the entire width of the MacDon D65 Header.
  • Active Float System - The CA25 works with the auto-header-height-control of the combine which allows for instant float-response over changing ground conditions. Coil springs mechanically provide lateral and vertical float of the header, independent of the combine feeder house which allows the D65 to float over rolling and uneven terrain.
  • Reel Performance - The MacDon reel offers 4 adjustable cam positions, allowing you to select the setting that best suits your harvest conditions. Positions 1 and 2 are for fair harvest conditions with ripe standing crop and no green weeds or undergrowth. Positions 3 and 4 allow you to put the reel in front of and below the cutter bar for lifting downed and low podding crop. You can also use the header tilt and fore-aft reel positioning for even more aggressive action when required.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS:

★ The D65 can be used for direct cutting on most current combines (with MacDon’s CA25 Combine Adapter), as well as swathing canola, forage, and other specialty crops with MacDon 5 Series Windrowers.
★ The reel is easily adjustable to one of 4 cam positions to match harvest conditions.
★ Hydraulically adjusted reel fore-aft and header tilt functions allow easy, on-the-go changes for harvesting conditions.

Product Features

CRITICAL GAP - ITS THE MACDON ADVANTAGE

The MacDon D65 combine header features a Dual Span (split) Reel. This design allows the reel to operate very closely to the cutting components in short or down and tangled crops even over rough, uneven ground without clipping the fingertips.

THE ACTIVE FLOAT FLOAT SYSTEM ADVANTAGE

The auto-header-height-control on combines is a reactive system, meaning that it needs time to "react" to changing ground conditions. For example if it takes 1 second to react, at 6 mph (10km/h) you will have already traveled 8' (2.5m). This lag may cause the header to get caught up on uneven terrain making for uneven cutting and/or unnecessary dirt ingestion. The active float system of the MacDon CA25 allows for instant response over all kinds of ground conditions.

MULTIPLE APPLICATION

MacDon’s D65 Draper Headers can be used for direct cutting with most current model combines using the CA25. The D65 can also be used with MacDon 5 Series Windrowers for swathing canola, forage, and other specialty crops. Available in both single and double knife versions and in widths from 25' (7.6m) to 40' (12.2m).

REEL FORE-AFT - HYDRAULIC POSITIONER

Adjust the reel position to changing crop and field conditions on-the-go from the cab. Adjust the reel position to changing crop and field conditions on-the-go from the cab.

EXTRORDINARY REEL DESIGN

MacDon's patented PR15 pick-up reel has been engineered to deliver optimal performance. The remarkable movement of this reel provides aggressive yet gentle finger action, resulting in the best pick-up action and crop recovery in the industry. Along with 4 cam positions, header tilt control, and fore-aft reel positioning, this reel can be specifically adjusted to meet your harvest conditions.

PARKER HOSES AND COUPLERS

By using high quality Parker hoses throughout the D65, we have been able to provide the most reliable Draper Header to date.

33% INCREASE IN DRAPER TENSION

The D65 was modified to allow the drapers to be tensioned up to 33% more than previous D60 headers, improving the drive to drapers for handling the heaviest of crop loads.

KNIFE STORAGE

A spare knife can be ordered and installed into the back-tube of any size of D65 Draper header at the factory.

IMPROVED VISIBILITY, CLEAN DESIGN, OPERATING CONVENIENCE

Visibility of the float and tilt has been improved. Mounting the tilt indicator directly on the cylinder with a simplified design makes it easier for the operator to see. Automatic header height control and hydraulic header tilt are now standard features on all 5 Series Drapers.

FD75 FlexDraper® Headers for Combine

TRUE FLEXDRAPER® NO COMPROMISE

The MacDon FD75 FlexDraper® is our latest innovation in FlexDraper technology. Even at maximum flex our fixed reel to cutter bar relationship stays true, maintaining a consistently small critical gap between the reel fingers and cutter bar. This close reel to cutter bar relationship results in smooth, consistent, heads-first feeding that significantly boosts combine productivity. That means you get up to 45' (13.7m) of true ground following characteristics that won't compromise performance.

SMOOTH, CONSISTENT, HEADS-FIRST FEEDING. IT'S WHAT SETS OUR MACHINES APART.

  • Close Reel to Cutterbar Relationship - The MacDon FD75 features a fixed cutter bar to reel relationship. A small critical gap between the reel fingers and the cutter bar is maintained at all times, even when in full flex, ensuring smooth feeding of the crop over the entire width of the MacDon FD75 FlexDraper® Header.

  • Active Float System - The CA25 works with the auto-header-height-control of the combine which allows for instant float-response over changing ground conditions. Coil springs mechanically provide lateral and vertical float of the header, independent of the combine feeder house which allows the FlexDraper® to float over rolling and uneven terrain.

  • True Ground Following Characteristics - The MacDon FD75 is a floating, three-section flexible header with a split reel allowing the entire header frame, cutter bar and reel to follow ground contours as a unit - while maintaining the small, consistent reel to cutter bar relationship important for smooth crop feeding to the combine – even at maximum flex.

Product Highlights:

★ Conforms to the ground with minimal ground pressure.
★ Can be easily and quickly locked into rigid configuration.
★ The reel is easily adjustable to one of 4 cam positions to match harvest conditions.
★ Hydraulically adjusted reel fore-aft and header tilt functions allow easy, on-the-go changes for harvesting conditions.
★ The C-shaped cutter bar promotes smoother crop flow with one of the industry’s shortest transitions from cutterbar to the draper. Even in shatter-prone crops, it maintains a tight draper to cutter bar seal for better harvest performance.
★ Featuring the proven durability of the MacDon wobble box drive, the hydraulic knife drive enables adjustments to the sickle speed based on specific harvesting conditions.
★ Spare knife storage is now provided on 40’ (12.2m) and 45’ (13.7m) double knife headers.
★ Improved hydraulics with knife reverser and more precise draper speed control.

Product Features

CRITICAL GAP - IT'S THE FD75 ADVANTAGE

The MacDon FD75 FlexDraper® features a fixed cutter bar to reel relationship. This means a small critical gap between the reel fingers and the cutter bar is maintained at all times, even when in full flex. This small gap ensures smooth, consistent, heads-first feeding of the crop over the entire width of the FlexDraper® Header, up to 45' (13.7m). That’s innovation significantly boosting combine productivity.

FD75 FLEXDraper®
The MacDon FD75 FlexDraper® is a floating, three-section flexible header with a split reel allowing the entire header frame, cutter bar and reel to follow ground contours as a unit – while maintaining the small, consistent reel to cutter bar relationship. This is important for smooth, consistent, heads-first feeding to the combine – even at maximum flex. This means excellent ground following capabilities even on terraces or ditches.

THE OTHER GUYS
On the other hand, the other guys' rigid frame relies on the movement of the flexible cutter bar to follow ground contours. To accommodate the flex, reel fingers must have excessive clearance to avoid damage from the cutter bar. This results in a large gap and inconsistent relationship between the reel and cutter bar as the cutter bar follows contours in the field.

ULTIMATE 2-IN-1 HEADER

The FD75 FlexDraper® switches easily from flex to rigid application with the quick flip of a lever. This amazing feature allows the FD75 to provide outstanding performance in just about any crop and under any ground condition. Available in 30' (9.1m) to 45' (13.7m) widths, making this the most productive Draper Header that MacDon has ever produced.

EXTRAORDINARY REEL DESIGN FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

MacDon's patented PR15 pick-up reel has been engineered to deliver optimal performance. The remarkable movement of this reel provides aggressive yet gentle finger action, resulting in the best pick-up action and crop recovery in the industry. Along with 4 cam positions, header tilt control, and fore-aft reel positioning, this reel can be specifically adjusted to meet your harvest conditions.

THE ACTIVE FLOAT SYSTEM ADVANTAGE

The auto-header-height-control on combines is a reactive system, meaning that it needs time to "react" to changing ground conditions. For example if it takes 1 second to react, at 6 mph (10km/h) you will have already traveled 8' (2.5m). This lag may cause the header to get caught up on uneven terrain making for uneven cutting and/or unnecessary dirt ingestion. The active float system of the MacDon CA25 allows for instant response over all kinds of ground conditions.

CUTTERBAR POLY

This kit is a compression molded component that has very high wear characteristics. It is used when cutting low podding crops like soybeans, lentils, or other lodged crops. The smooth design characteristics make this kit ideal for muddy harvesting conditions by reducing the likelihood of mud building up on the cutterbar.

This kit is available for all header sizes.
