Business Analyst – Accounting Specialist

Education and Experience:

Accounting designation preferred.
University Degree/Technical Diploma in Business/Commerce.
Minimum of five years relevant work experience in a business environment using an ERP system is preferred.
Experience with constructing financial reports with Business Intelligence tools is an asset.
Experience with manufacturing cost accounting is an asset.
Experience with Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One is an asset.
Prior experience working in a Manufacturing and Distribution Environment is an asset.
Experience supporting a broad range of accounting processes is required (e.g. fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, EFT, taxes, exchange, reconciliations, budgets, chart of accounts design, consolidations)

Skills and Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office products 2010 or higher.
Experience working with data in large relational databases.
Ability to create compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations.
Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies.
Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas.
Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products.
Ability to partner with software engineers quality analysts to identify a course of resolutions.

 

PURPOSE and SCOPE:

This position will be part of a large delivery team responsible for supporting our business systems. This cross-functional group collaborates with business and technical team members to propose, design, deliver and support solutions that bring business value.  The Accounting Specialist position is focused on accounting specific projects and support, as well as serving as a supporting team member on all projects that interface to the accounting modules, processes and reports.  This position will play a key role in quality review of integrated projects in both methodology and results.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities that this position must focus on, must achieve and must excel at:

Providing consultative support and process analysis for the Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne System as it relates to Business Operations with a primary focus to the accounting modules.
Providing support and process analysis for the integrated business systems used to support the ERP system.
Partner with business and technology partners to elicit, analyze, translate and document business requirements into technical requirements.
Providing requirements and development of ad hoc and managed reports for the business using existing Business Intelligence tools.
Analyze, document and test program development, logic, process flows and specifications.
Partner with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing.
Document user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures.
Coordinate the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
