Manufacturing Engineer/Technologist (#METech95)

Qualifications

• University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years related experience preferably in a farm equipment-manufacturing environment.
• Experience in methods of manufacturing design, planning and implementation using PPAP or APQP methodologies.
• Experience in manufacturing processes of conventional and CNC machining, laser cutting, brake press forming, punching, welding and powder coat painting.
• Experience in creating Request for Proposal data packages related to the design and fabrication of tools, jigs and fixtures.
• Experience negotiating purchase agreements with vendors and managing vendors to timelines and due dates.
• Experience conducting Gauge R&R Studies, Statistical Process Control and other statistical methods applicable to manufacturing.
• Experience with Solid Edge and FEA stress analysis software would be an advantage.
• CNC programming experience (or working knowledge of) is an asset.
• Practical knowledge in the operation and maintenance of farm equipment is a definite asset.
• Good computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
• Must possess excellent presentation, organization, communication and logical problem-solving skills and be a self-starter who wants to get the job done.
• Team oriented; good team player.
 

Responsibilities

• Planning the efficient and economical manufacture and assembly of components to meet the requirements of the engineering drawings and associated specifications. This will be accomplished using PC-based multi-media CAD software in conjunction with Design Engineering and factory disciplines.
• Creating and issuing fully detailed manufacturing instructions including applicable metrology and inspection plans.
• Performing Time and Motion studies and maintaining manufacturing Time Standards data.
• Specifying and sourcing machines, tooling, setting machine parameters.
• Assist in designing tooling to support welding, machining, forming, assembly and material handling.
• Assist in the development of CNC programs and tool set-up instruction for CNC and conventional machine tools, metal-cutting lasers and robotic welders
• Investigation of non-conformance to determine root causes and develop and implement corrective action with follow-up as required.
